How to Connect the Router to the UPS
February 28, 2024

There are times when grid power outages may occur. This is when Uninterruptible Power Supplies or UPS offer backup power to shield equipment from damage like load shedding or lightning strikes.

In such an event, they can help to power up devices. If you have recently bought a UPS and want to connect it to the router using c19 to c20 power cords, then wait. Here is everything in the article present which can help you easily create a connection.

What are the Different Types of UPS Systems?

Three different types of UPS Systems exist. To know about what they are and their brief introduction, read the following

  • Standby UPS System

Standby UPS System is also known as offline or line-preferred UPS. It remains on standby until any primary power outage takes place. This comes with a low-pass filter, static switch, battery, inverter, and other components.

  • Line Interactive UPS System

In this type of UPS, there is an inverter and battery attached permanently to the output. Whenever any power outage takes place, a switch modifies the electrical flow. Moreover, continuous connection can be expected due to better filtration.

  • Double Conversion UPS System

In this double-conversion UPS system, a backup battery is powered by the input AC. This powers the output inverter which further provides a smooth switchover.

What are the Ways You Can Connect the Router to the UPS?

There are many ways you can connect the router to the UPS using the right type of cords. Some of the step-by-step instructions are given below which you can follow

  • Connecting Router to Output Port

In the first step, you need to connect the router or ONT to the output port. This can be done using the provided splitter cable.

  • Attach Gadgets to USB Output

Besides the first step, you can attach the gadgets to the cable’s 5V DC USB output. One example of this could be your smartphone.

  • Attach to the Router

Now you need to attach the wi-fi router power adapter to the UPS’s input port. It is important to make sure that the maximum input voltage does not exceed more than 13 VDC. Also, the polarity should be accurate.

  • Fit the Power Adapter

In the next step, you need to fit the power adapter into the wall socket of the AC.

It is important to consider that you must avoid using adapters that are higher than 12 V. If you have an adapter that comes with more voltage than 12 V, then it can lead to damaging the UPS. Also, the warranty would not cover it and you will face utter loss. On the other hand, as you follow the steps, you will have UPS connected with the router as well as other devices with the help of c19 to c20 power cords.

What are the Advantages of Using UPS?

Before you connect UPS to the router using c14 to c15, let’s find out the advantages that it brings along.

  • It guards against power outages.
  • The UPS helps to enhance the power quality in any given area.
  • They provide sufficient power at times of brief outages so that the backup can be used.
  • These provide a fallback option just like electrical generators.
  • They bring consistency as they safely switch off the system when it may be required.
  • It helps to provide supply using c14 to c15 power cords that are clean and free from abnormalities of any kind.
  • The businesses may not encounter any kind of stop in their operation as UPS brings continuity.

Which Industries Mostly Benefit from Using UPS?

Many industries benefit from UPS when connected to the router using c19 to c20 power cords. Some of these industries that are receiving great favors with this device are

  • Medical industry
  • Banks
  • TV stations
  • Data centers
  • Cable companies
  • Call centers
  • Telecommunications companies
  • Schools and Universities
  • Utility companies
  • Electronic manufacturing industry and more.

What May Cause the Wifi Connected UPS to Not Switch On?

It does not matter if you are using c19 to c20 power cords or any other – there may be instances when the wifi may not turn on when connected to the UPS. Why is it so? What could have gone wrong? There may be so many questions that may rush into your mind. Well, in that case, several hidden culprits could be a reason behind it. Some of these theories are listed below which you can employ anytime to resolve the issue.

  • UPS May Not Give the Power

You must verify whether the other devices connected to the UPS are receiving power from it. If there is no power coming from the UPS, then there are high chance that it could be broken. So move forward to fix it or replace it.

  • UPS Could be Overloaded

Another reason why you may not be able to start the wifi is because the UPS is overloaded. It might be possible that the UPS is not able to supply power to every single device that may be attached to it. To be sure, you can take a shot to disconnect a few of the devices and then recheck if the wifi activates.

  • Check the Wires

The cord that you have used to connect the UPS to the router could be worn out or may not be working in the right manner. So make sure to take a look at the c19 to c20 power cords and see the connection again.

  • Low Battery Problem

If your wifi device may not be able to receive power from the UPS, then it may be because it is low on power or dead. In case the UPS battery is low, then check its condition and attempt to charge it.

  • Wifi Gadget is Broken

Another cause behind why the Wifi may not start is because it is broken. There is a chance of malfunctioning and it would not switch on. To see if it functions, you must try to connect the UPS to another device.

  • Network Problems

Even if your c14 to c15 power cords are working fine, there are chances of network problems present. Due to these problems, it can interrupt the operation of your wifi equipment causing it to disconnect from the internet. You must try calling your internet provider or reboot the router if a situation like this arises.

Is It Possible to Get Continuous Power Backup from the UPS to the Wifi?

If you have connected the wifi to the UPS using c19 to c20 power cords and are wondering how to get continuous power backup, then wait. The first thing that you can do is read the UPS manual for any suggestions.

Some of the UPS offer the choice where one can automatically shut it down after every ten minutes. They may even give the choice of where the UPS may remain on until the battery voltage degrades itself further forcing it to shut down. But if there are no such rules mentioned in the manual, then you can choose to let it run for as long as required.
